April 7, 1938 — Oct. 11, 2018
Gail Mitchell passed away on Oct. 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 7, 1938, to Daniel Leroy and Dora Elizabeth Brown in Bessemer, Alabama. She was raised in Alabama.
While attending Birmingham Baptist School of Nursing she met the love of her life, Wesley Mitchell. They met in 1960 on the beach in Panama City, Florida, and were married on Feb. 19, 1961. They had two wonderful daughters.
Wesley was in the Air Force and was stationed at Travis AFB in 1968 where they raised their daughters. Gail and Wesley remained in Fairfield for the remainder of their years.
Gail was a loving wife and devoted mother. She enjoyed music, singing, playing the piano and painting. Her rose painting was especially admired by all whom saw it. She was endlessly friendly and had a great fondness for adorable children, whom would get their cheeks lovingly touched.
She was boundlessly caring. Her years in nursing caring for others did not stop upon her retirement. Her compassion represented itself in her volunteer work where she constantly worked to improve the lives of others. She devoted some of her time to the NorthBay Volunteer Guild Organization, helping patients and families in times of need.
Gail's visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, California. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, also at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. She will be buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
Arrangements are under the care of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 707-425-4697.
