Charles Ray ‘‘Raymond'' Alverson, 85, of Canfield, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Briarfield Manor Care Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Lisbon, the son of Charles W. and Clara E. Cook Alverson. He had retired from Penn Railroad and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Canfield Christian Church. He is survived by two children, Gloria Jeanne Hudnell of North Bloomfield and Charles A. Reese of Phoenix; one brother, Robert of Tennessee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Alverson, and a brother. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Green Haven Cemetery Chapel, where family and friends may call one-half hour prior to the service. Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, handled the arrangements.
