Jack graduated from Shidler High School in Oklahoma in 1954, and served eight years in the United States Marines Corps as an airplane mechanic. He lived in California, Hawaii, Japan, and returned to Oklahoma before settling in Danbury, Texas in 1971. After his service, he went to work for Arco Chemical, where he retired in 1997.
Jack enjoyed working on cars and boats, reading science fiction and war novels, watching his western movies, camping at Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma, and rooting for his hometown teams, the Houston Rockets and Astros. He loved relaxing and hanging out with his fur-child Lola in his lap. More than anything, he looked forward to spending time with his large and loving family, finding any excuse to gather them all together - whether that be for birthdays, holidays or just for an old-fashioned cookout. Above all, he loved the Lord and was a long-serving member of Danbury Baptist Church where he spent many Sunday mornings in fellowship with his community of faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers Bill and Floyd Woods.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy, brothers Doug, Darrell, Clyde, Kim, Mike and their wives; sons and daughters-in-law Jack and Karon Woods, Keith and Kathy Woods, John and Susan Woods; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Doug Maxwell; grandchildren Melissa and husband Marc, Jackie, Julie and husband Jared, Zachary, Cody, Cole, Evan, Bryan, Dustin, Megan, Dylan, Monica, and great-granddaughter Lillian.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Danbury Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Danbury Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.
