Samuel Wayland Dies; Rites Set
Samuel C. Wayland, 79, of 1822 Hillman St., a Youngstown Municipal Railway Co. driver for 40 years until his retirement, died of a heart ailment at noon Saturday at his home.
Mr. Wayland was born in Brookfield, Pa., July 30, 1875, a son of Abraham and Mary Elizabeth Stormer Wayland and came to Youngstown 43 years ago when he joined the bus company. He retired three years ago and was a member of the amalgamated Association of Street, Electric Railway, and Motor Coach Employes of America No. 272.
Besides his wife, Mr. Wayland leaves three sons, Samuel F., James, and John; four daughters, Margaret Mary, Mrs. Grace Goodge, Mrs. Frank Axe, and Mrs. William Bennison, all of Youngstown; two brothers, O. J. of Youngstown and Elmer of Boardman; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Shires of Harrisburg, Pa. and Mrs. Isaiah Muth of Brookfield; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, where friends may call this evening and tomorrow afternoon and evening.
