Mother, 91, Son, 66, Die On Same Day
A Youngstown mother and her son of Hubbard, died late Thursday, both of natural causes.
Mrs. Flora Wayland, 91, of 176 Winchester Ave., died at 4 p.m. at the Weaver Nursing Home. Her son, James Wayland, 66, of 1521 Lawnview Ave., Hubbard, died at 8:30 p.m. in North Side Hospital, Youngstown.
Mrs. Wayland's body is at the Thompson Funeral Home and Mr. Wayland's at the Kelley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wayland was born June 22, 1876, in Indiana County, Pa., a daughter of James and Grace Adamson and lived in this area since 1912. She was a member of Christ U.P. Church. Her husband, Samuel, to whom she was married Oct. 17, 1900, died in 1955.
She leaves a son, John, of Austintown and three daughters, Mrs. Grace Goodge of Boardman, Mrs. Vila Beniston of Youngstown and Mrs. Fay Axe with whom she made her home; 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wayland will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
