Harper Melvin Black Jr., 47, of Three Springs, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 1988, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. He had been a patient for the past two weeks.

He was born March 12, 1941, at Three Springs, the son of Harper Black Sr. of Three Springs and the late Lavilla (Cook) Black. His wife Gloria (Ramsey) Black, survives.

Also surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Carmella) Hockenberry, Everett; two sons, Maynard Black, Three Springs, Todd Black, at home; one sister, Betty Johnson, Shippensburg; two brothers, Vernon Black, Chambersburg and Donald E. Black, Three Springs. There are two grandchildren.

Mr. Black was of the Protestant faith.

He worked as a farmer, was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1790, Mercersburg, and the American Legion, McConnellsburg.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the Pentecostal Church of God, Hustontown. The Rev. Lanny Hoover will officiate and interment will be made at the Mount Tabor Cemetery, Waterfall.

Friends may call at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 25 and at the church one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
