Vernon R. Black, 79, of Chambersburg, passed away October 21, 2013, at Hershey Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born May 29, 1934, in Hustontown, to Harper and Nancy (Cook) Black. He was married to Yvonne Lynch Black on April 21, 1956. Vernon had worked for Sears for over thirty-five years as a carpenter and installer. He was a member of Chambersburg Brethren In Christ Church. He enjoyed working in his woodshop, photography, his motorcycle and scooters, social time at the gym and going to Florida in the winters. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Vernon is survived by his wife, Yvonne P. (Lynch) Black and their three children, Rodney V. (husband of Sheila) Black of Chambersburg, Linda C. (wife of Barry) Martin of Chambersburg, and Nancy L. (wife of Joseph) Garns of Chambersburg. He has four grandchildren, Brock and Jack Martin and Erin and Nikki Garns. He has one sister, Betty Jane Johnson of Shippensburg, and a brother, Donald E. Black of Hustontown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harper Black Jr.
