Louie Arntz dies in Oregon
Alois W. "Louie" Arntz, 87, a former resident of Logan County died of a heart attack Jan 7 at his home in Newport, Oregon. Mr. Arntz was born Oct 24, 1882 near Tripp, S.D. and came to Logan County with his parents in 1903. He was married in 1908 to Anna Setzer and lived on his homestead 2 1/2 miles west of Burnstad until 1942, when they moved to Oregon. He is survived by his widow and six children, a son Francis having preceded him in death about four years ago. The daughters and sons are Eva, Mrs. John Scalf of Ruston, La., Eunice, Mrs. Henry Czechovitz of Seattle, Wash; Werner of Burns, Oregon; Laurice of Benton Harbor, Mich and James of Alton, Ill. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Steil of Bismarck and a brother, Oscar F. Arntz of Jamestown. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church at Newport, Ore. and burial was in Sacramento, Calif., beside his son Francis.
