Barbara Jean Ramsey was born at her parents’ home on an Ashcraft family farm in Coshocton County.

As a child, she loved softball, roller skating down the road in Perryton, and square dancing. 4-H gave her a firm foundation in sewing and she produced many beautiful clothes-often from humble remnants. From helping make hay at the farm to creating gardens at her homes, she enjoyed the outdoor life and her green thumb.

Barbara returned to college as a mother of three—and graduated from Franklin University in 1972. She was the first female president of the National Association of Accountants in Columbus. After time with Westreco in Marysville and Owens Corning in Newark, she sold real estate with Woeste and then Wilbur Wilson mentored her as an appraiser. After purchasing his company, she later became a Master Appraiser.

Barbara was often involved in many service projects—starting with her youth group at Mt. Pleasant and later PTA and then the Newark Rotary Club. She also loved playing cards (especially bridge) and ballroom dancing. Her love of music included playing the piano, informal singalongs, the Sweet Adelines, and Heath Church of Christ’s cantatas. Barbara loved to gather family and friends—and her legendary chocolate chip cookies were always anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed!

Surviving are two sisters, Darlene Lentz of Frazeysburg and Carolyn (Steve) Bretz of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Rosemary Barboza of Newark, OH and Tera (Neil) Arthur of Dayton, OH; one son, Fred (Robin) Holtsberry of Westerville, OH; one foster daughter, Mellody Pennington of Palm Harbor, FL; five grandchildren, Juan Barboza, Max and Erica Holtsberry, Samantha Linthicum, and Benjamin Pennington; one great grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lena Ramsey of Perryton, OH; her brother, Darrell Ramsey of Orlando, FL; her brother-in-law, Charles Lentz; and her grandson, Antonio Martinez of Newark, OH.
