HENRY ADAMS, (3rd child/oldest son) of JESSE & UNICY HUNT ADAMS was born 4/14/1786 in Franklin Co, NC where he grew up. He met Mary Catherine "Polly" HAMMONDS there and on 8/29/1811 they were married.
During 1812 the young couple accompanied his parents, siblings and other kin on a migration from Franklin County, NC to the portion of old Smith County, TN which became Macon County. They show up there on the 1820 and 1830 census records before a family migration during the early 1830s further westward to the part of Humphries County, TN which became Benton County.
Following the death of his father 12/6/1835 in Benton County some of the siblings moved in different directions but Henry was taxed there for 1836-37 before his son Briant appears to have become tax payer of record for the years 1839-1842 or later. The 1840 census listed HENRY (aged in his 50s) heading the household on the same page with Young and Green Adams. The household included males under 5, 5 to 10, 10-15, 15-20, and 20-30 along with Henry, two females aged 10-15 and his wife aged in her 40s
Henry shows up in Ballard Co, KY tax rolls in 1849 along w/Bryant & Henry Jr.
..Gillam & S.H. show up on 1850 tax records and on census. Due to sloppiness of recordation (initials vs given names, mistatements/omissions of sex of family members, etc) and loss of most early county records there is difficulty in establishing which children fit in which household among the Adams cluster of households

Mary Catherine "Polly" is believed to have died during the early 1850s and to have been buried either on their property or in the nearby Bardwell grave yard. By 1860C Henry had remarried & had Patterson stepdaughters. From tax records it appears his marriage to Micee Patterson was in 1855/6 (went from 1 minor child to 3). The tax recorder also began using initials in lieu of given names in 1856 adding to difficulty in distinguishing him from the Mayfield Creek. Henry but he was still alive in 1860 --due to his age he probably was no longer being taxed. He too was either buried on their property or the nearby Bardwell graveyard
