Joel "Mack" Boyack
1935 - 2018

Early Life: Mack was born May 7, 1935, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to wonderful parents, William Jex and Leona Howard Ellis Boyack. He had many wonderful friends growing up in Spanish Fork and after his family moved to Springville, Utah. Mack earned a varsity letter playing tennis, he acted in several school plays and wrote for the school newspaper. Mack met and fell in love with Marva Poulsen while attending Springville High School. He was instantly smitten with her.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: On September 7, 1954, Mack and Marva were married and sealed for all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. They have been married over 64 years and have resided in Springville for most of that time. Mack and Marva have six children. Mack drove truck as a career for most of his life, logging over four million miles. He was truly a missionary on wheels, driving with over 600 partners with whom he shared conversations about family, politics and religion. Many of these men became lifelong friends. He was a pioneer in using media while traveling, collecting over 2400 books and talks on tape. Mack loved to learn and was always engaged in reading and studying. The more he learned, the more he wanted to know. Mack served in many church callings, from deacons quorum president to bishop. He loved family history and served family history missions for over 17 years, where he taught and helped others learn how to use new digital applications to further their family history work. His family has been greatly blessed by the works that he has compiled. Joel "Mack" Boyack passed away due to complications of multiple myeloma while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 6, 2018. He was 83.
Family Message: "Although we are sad and heartbroken to have our husband, father and grandfather leave us for a period of time, we are comforted by our faith in the restored gospel that promises that families can be reunited and that our bonds of companionship and love never die."
