Danny Ray Boyd, 49, a resident of Lewiston, and his beloved dog Max, both died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, near St. Maries in a logging truck accident.

Danny was born Dec. 5, 1965, in Lewiston, to Gordon and Lynne (Young) Boyd. He grew up in Orofino along with his four siblings, attending school there and graduating from Orofino High School in 1984.

Danny always had a love for old cars and was an excellent mechanic. He was always helping his sisters with oil changes and rebuilding transmissions. Danny's mom always wanted him to be a mechanic, but he didn't want to turn something he loved to do into something he had to do. Danny owned a few classic cars over the years, with his favorite one being his 1969 fastback Mustang. He was very proud of that car.

Danny was very loyal and hard-working. He worked various jobs in the automotive industry including at NAPA and Bruneel Tire Factory. Dan started working in the timber industry, working for many of the local logging companies and eventually ending up working in the timber mills - the Konkolville mill out of Orofino and Potlatch Corp. in Lewiston. In 2013, Danny purchased his own logging truck and formed D B Trucking. His only co-worker was his dog Max, who went everywhere with Dan.

Danny spent a lot of his free time doing the things that he loved with his close friend Jackson Russell and Jackson's wife, Barb. Dan and Jackson were like brothers - they went hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and camping together. There was hardly a day that went by that he didn't at least speak with Jackson on the phone.

Danny is survived by his mom, Lynne; his second mom, his aunt Jean; his daughter, Mercy; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Tammy; his sisters and their husbands, Mary and Galen; Michelle and Kevin; Nichole and Brian. Danny is also survived by his aunts and uncles, his many nieces and nephews, his many cousins, and all of his friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Boyd; grandmothers, Stella Boyd and Nancy Duggar; and his uncle, Robert Jack "Bobby" Young

Danny, as one of his friends, said, was an awesome human being. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
