Octavia was the daughter of Javan and Nancy (Lane) Collins of Grainger County, TN. She was married to Alonzo Hipshire on Apr. 4, 1915, and they had one daughter-Irene Rose Hipshire. Irene was born Feb. 8, 1917, and died Oct. 16, 1969 in Knoxville, TN. Irene married George Bullen on Mar. 21, 1932 in Claiborne County, TN.

Octavia also had another daughter from a previous relationship. Her name was Opal (May), and she was born abt. 1913. She lived in the Detroit, MI area as an adult.

Octavia's half-sister, Mattie (Collins) Sherman is also buried in this cemetery.

In the Spring of 1969 Mrs. Cordia Clement accompanied our family to this small cemetery, and verified that Octavia was buried here. She said she helped prepare the body for interment, but could not remember exactly where Octavia was buried in the cemetery. A marker for Octavia was placed in the cemetery on June 20, 2007. It is located in the left rear corner close to the fence line.

Note: She is buried in the small Clement Cemetery which is close to the intersection of Old U.S. Hwy. 25E & Thorn Hill Road. See cemetery description for specific location. There is another Clement Cemetery, which is about 3.5 miles north of Thorn Hill. It is off Dry Valley Rd. in the northern part of Claiborne County. Some of the people buried in Clement No. 2 are erroneously listed in the Clement Cemetery.
