John Paul McAlister, age 68, of Shelbina, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at his home in Shelbina, Missouri.
John was born January 12, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Paul Michael and Florence Marie Cole McAlister. He was united in marriage on April 12, 1969 in Moberly, MO, to Nancy Lee Austin McAlister.
He is survived by his three children; Sheila Smith of Moberly, MO, Cheri Parsons (Jason) of Oklahoma, and Lisa Boone (Sam) of Moberly, MO, 9 grandchildren; Ashley, Coltin, Mercedes, Alexis, Cedric, Jonathan, Jace, Faith, and DeMarcus, 2 step grandchildren; Jaston and Cedric Boone, 8 great grandchildren; special family Jamie and Gabby Thomas and Nicki and Riley Hill, two brothers; Pat McAlister (Gloria) of Shelbina, MO and Robert McAlister (Vicki) of Quincy Il, two sisters; Charlene Thomas of Shelbina, Helen Sauchegraw of Ottumwa, Iowa, in-laws, Jack and Jeanne Austin, Leslie and Ruth Brock Jr., Kenneth and Betty Maloney and Paula McAlister and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son David McAlister, two brothers Tommy and Charlie McAlister, three brother-in-laws, Gary, Merlin and Dennis and two nephews.
John lived with Jamie, Nicki, Gabby and Riley through his illness. He had worked with the railroad for 36 years and loved to fish, bbq, camp, listen to music and drink beer. He especially loved spending time with family.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Visitation will be held Sunday 3 to 5 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Cox Cemetery in Excello, MO. Memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice.
