Frank Homer Avery was born on 9 March 1878 in Fulton county, Georgia, the son of William Avery (1845-1913) and Georgia Ellis Little Avery (1850-1905). He was married to Augusta M. Austin (1899-1981) on 23 October 1923 in Greenville county, SC. They had two sons and a daughter. By 1940 they had relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. He worked as a steam engineer and road work laborer. He died on 20 August 1967 in Atlanta, GA at the age of 89. He was interred at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
