Dignity, elegance, courage, faith-filled and strength are all words that describe Mary McCray. She was, a beautiful, healthy baby girl born on June 15, 1927, to the late Robert L. Hagan and Dorothy Jones in Colfax, Louisiana. Mary was educated through the Colfax public school.

She was the mother of one daughter Juanita McKinney who proceeded her in death. Mary moved to Houston, Texas where she met and married John McCray on April 22, 1977 and remained married until his death in 1998.

She was born into the family of God at an early age. Sis Mary McCray united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G.T. Curry Sr.. She was a long tine member who greeted every one with a smile. Sister McCray remained a faithful member who attended service every Sunday until she became ill.

Mary was serious, but fun-loving by nature she gained pleasure being with family and friends. She loved to say things to make you laugh. She leaves a legacy of strength, courage, and love to her family.

A true servant who touch the lives of so many on Monday September 24, 2018 answered the call of the "Divine Time Keeper". She was call home to be with the Lord. She, "fought to good fight, finish her race, she keep the faith. Now there is reserved for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give on that day"...

Sis. Mary McCray, leaves to cherish a well lived life of ninety one years, her grandchildren; Sonya Spikes and Mervin (wife Latrina) Howard great grandchildren Michael Howard, Eric, Nicole and Shenicole Spikes, Ashley Johnson, Keith Darrell Howard, Jamal Johnson, Jasmine Treneise Howard nephews, nieces, family, friends, and the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Hagan, her four brothers Leroy, Edward, Hunter, Robert, her husband John McCray, her daughter Juanita Howard, and one grand-daughter Lisa Howard-Johnson.
