Jerry Douglas Matheny, age 81 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at AHC of Paris.

He retired from the Henry County Highway Department after 44 years and served in the Tennessee National Guard for six years. Jerry loved trapping, staying busy, and doing anything that needed doing. He was a member of Central Point Baptist Church in Paris.

Jerry was born April 9, 1941, in Paris, TN, to the late James Douglas Matheny and the late Thelma Lee Webb Matheny.

He was married February 20, 1965, to Mary Jo McWherter Matheny, who survives, of Paris.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one sister, Mary Harrison of Clarksville, TN; one brother, Ricky (Teresa) Matheny of Paris; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Matheny.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN, with Bobby Campbell and Eugene McWherter officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Matheny, Jeff Matheny, Paul McWherter, Sean McWherter, Colter Sherrod, and Mike McWherter.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Olive Branch Cemetery.
