Nora Marie Eberhart Porter, 91, of Granbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018. A celebration of life for family and friends will be planned later this year.
Nora was born on October 9, 1926 near Rock Church, Texas to Allen and Aziline (Freeman) Eberhart. She was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Garth until he passed away in 2009. She was devoted to her family and was a wonderful daughter, mama and granny.
As a young woman Nora worked as a secretary for the Soil Conservation Service until her children were born, then she stayed home to raise them and be a homemaker. When her children were teenagers she went back to work and was Hood County Judge Milton Myer’s administrative assistant for many years. She enjoyed her career and made many wonderful friends.
Nora loved reading, needlepoint, flower gardening and cooking. Her specialty was baking pies and cobblers. She also enjoyed spending time with her sweet dog Hamlet. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Garth Albert Porter; son: Jason Garth Porter; sisters: Roxie Spurlock and Velma Underwood and baby brother: Baxter Eberhart.
Nora is survived by her daughter: Marina Becker and husband David; grandchildren: Brandon Becker, Sarah Becker, Allen Porter, and Graham Porter and wife Samantha and daughter-in-law: Linda Porter Rawlins and husband Bill.
