Karen Ann ( Martin) Wood was born June 25, 1951 in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Estil Edison Martin and Colene Nadine Martin, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her two brothers; Donny Martin and Dennis Martin. Karen has one surviving brother, Danny Martin. Karen had 4 children. She married Ronald Eugene Wood and had daughters Dawn Wood and Denise Wood. She later had sons James Smith and Jonathan Smith, their father was James William Smith. Karen passed away at her home in Davenport, Ia, on Sunday, September 23rd at 1:45pm, with her sons at her side. Karen will be cremated and her ashes given to her children. It was Karen’s desire to have her ashes taken to Fabius Cemetery in Schuyler County, Mo. to be where her Grandpa William Everette Martin is laid to rest. Her children have plans to have a small family memorial in the spring with which to do so.
Karen was a strong woman and went through a lot in her life. She always managed to make a person smile and laugh no matter what the circumstances. Her Four Children, Five Grandchildren and One great grandchild were the light of her life! She was a protective mother and would always stand up for her children and family just as fast as a mother hen with her feathers ruffled. She will be loved and missed every single day, but she will be with her children always.
