THE KRAUS FAMILY MASSACRE 1959, NEW HAVEN

The Kraus family was wonderful. I remember the kids fondly and my sister went to grammar school with Linda.

One spring day we woke up to find out that Mr. Kraus had killed his three kids: Linda (12), Donald (9), Richard (8) and his own sister, Elizabeth, before setting the house on fire and killing himself. Needless, to say we were shocked and saddened.

I still can recall darling Linda with such a bright future ahead of her. Their mother, Frances, never remarried and died in the New Haven area when she was 90--she had not been at home during Mr Kraus' rampage. He did try to kill her when she returned, but she escaped.

Family violence affects so many people--I know I can still vividly remember the incident.

So the children will never be forgotten this memorial is here.
