PIONEER OF FALL CREEK – MRS. MARTHA SEEHORN, PROMINENT RESIDENT OF ADAMS COUNTY, WAS SUMMONED

Mrs. Martha E. Seehorn, widow of the late Alfred Seehorn, a pioneer of Fall Creek township, where she had resided for many years, passed away at her home after a lingering illness due to the infirmities of old age. For some time she suffered with gall stones, which with complications brought about her demise.

Mrs. Seehorn was born in Fall Creek, seventy-three years ago, and had spent her entire life in this county. Her husband was one of the county’s most prominent and substantial residents. The deceased shared the high regard in which her husband was held, to the fullest extent, being universally esteemed by all who knew her, as she was a woman with a beautiful character and many excellent qualities which endeared her to all who came in contact with her. Mrs. Seehorn was for many years a member of the M.E. church at Payson and was a regular attendant as long as her health would permit. She was a true Christian woman, charitable and ever ready to do her share towards any good work.

She is survived by five sons, Alfred A. Seehorn, the implement dealer and ex-superintendent of the Quincy schools; Sherman Seehorn, the real estate dealer; Harry A. associated with his brother Alfred A., all of Quincy. Judge Thomas Seehorn, of Kansas City, and James H. of Fall Creek. Besides she leaves one stepson, Charles A. Seehorn, of Fall Creek. She was a good mother and the bereaved sons have the profound sympathy of a host of friends in the great loss they have sustained.

The funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence at Fall Creek, with the burial at Thompson’s cemetery, one mile east of the village.
