The community was saddened Thursday morning to learn that Mrs. Sarah H. Buchner (note that the "H." is incorrect) had quietly passed away during the night at her home in this city. She had been seriously ill for several weeks and it was feared she would not survive. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. David H. Aston at four o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Methodist Church and interment was made in the Holdenville Cemetery. The deceased was seventy-three years of age and was a woman of fine character who was beloved by everyone. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of devoted friends.

Sarah Melissa Buchner, the daughter of William and Sarah Yerian, was born in Morgan County, Ohio, March 30th, 1846; died in Holdenville, Oklahoma, at her home May 28th, 1919. She was married to William Buchner in Maquoketa, Iowa, May 18th, 1868. She lived happily with her husband for forty years, he having passed away ten years ago last November. She was the mother of seven children, all of whom survive her except one son who preceded his mother to the other world some several years ago. All of her loving family were with her in her last illness. Her only living brother who lives at Medford, Oklahoma and who is now 78 years old was with her the last three days of her life here. Her surviving children are Mrs. Frances Burden, of Seibert, Colorado, Mrs. F. F. Leweke of Scandia, Kansas, and Mrs. Callie Schaff, Mrs. Viola Sappington, Al Buchner, and Guy Buchner, of Holdenville, Oklahoma. She came with her husband and family to El Reno, Oklahoma in 1892; and four years later moved to Holdenville, Okla., where she has lived ever since. She was reared in a Christian home where family prayer was always held. She joined the Methodist Church when quite young and has ever lived a consistent Christian life. For sometime she has known that her stay in this world was short and has expressed herself as being thoroughly prepared for death. Her Christian life and her prevailing prayer triumphed in the last day of her life. Her son, Guy, had promised her some time ago that he would join the church and ever live a consistent Christian. He and his wife made good this promise before she passed away, both being baptized and joining the church in her home. The funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church at 4 P.M. May 29th, 1919, in the presence of a large congregation of friends and loved ones. She being an honored member of the Eastern Star, the ceremonies of that order were given at the cemetery.
