She attended California High School where she was a cheerleader, played volleyball and softball. On December 24, 1951 Louise was married to Richard “Dickie” Newkirk who preceded her in death on November 2, 2000. She enjoyed knitting, bowling, taking rides and playing the organ and piano. Her true enjoyment was playing the game of Wahoo, cards and volleyball with her family. Back in the days, Louise and Dickie played Lawn Darts with a group of friends affectionately known as the “Dirty Dozen”.
Louise is survived by five children, Guy Newkirk (Maria), Brenda McGinnis (Chuck) and Donna Donley (Dennis) all of California, MO, Mike Newkirk and Lisa Kindle (Greg) all of Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister-in-law Alma Hoellering; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Louise was also preceded in death by a daughter Debbie Troyn; one brother Buddy Dunham and one sister Jenny Hickman.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM, with funeral services at 2:00 PM at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service in California, MO with Rev. Josh Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at the California City Cemetery.
