Wilma Margaret Schultz, age 95, of Ackley, Iowa, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Hilko and Martha (Lauterbach) Viet on August 7, 1923, in Parkersburg, Iowa. Wilma attended country school west of Parkersburg.
After her schooling, Wilma was a nanny and housekeeper for Henry Pruter.

On August 6, 1966, Wilma was united in marriage with Merle Schultz at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

After their marriage, Wilma and Merle made their home in Parkersburg.

Through the years, Wilma was employed at Wayside Inn, Dreyer Drug, May’s Drug, then finally at Trey’s Departments Store for 20 years until the store closed.

Wilma was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, where she taught Sunday School, served with the BLC Women’s Group and sewed with the quilting group until 2008.

Wilma enjoyed going fishing in Minnesota with Merle three times a year. A few of her favorite pastimes were reading Amish books. cross stitching and watching sports on television. She loved playing cards with her cousins and going out for coffee every Tuesday and Thursday with her friends.

Wilma died Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Grand JiVante in Ackley, Iowa.

Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Merle on March 6, 1986; one infant brother, two sisters, Francis (Irvin) Flessner and Marlys (Edwin) Arends; and one brother-in-law, Delmar Janssen.

Wilma is survived by three step children; four step grandchildren; eleven step great grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard (Norma) Viet and Hilko (Bernice) Viet, both of Ackley; one sister, Jennie Mae Janssen of Ackley; and one half sister, Esther Dickes of Streamwood, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm. to 6:00 p.m., on Monday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and one hour before services at the church.
