George Deneris, 75, passed away December 21, 2000. The son of Greek immigrants, he was born February 26, 1925, in Midvale, Utah to Virginia Anastasopoulos of Sparta, and Angelo Deneris of Argos. He married Kathleen Nicholes September 8, 1951, in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Jordan High School 1943, and from the University of Utah, l950. He was a Professional Engineer and Licensed Land Surveyor. He retired from Kennecott Cop-per Corporation Plant Management, 1984, after 36 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Army, 960 Engineering Topographic AVN Co., 1943-1945, in the Pacific Theatre, earning four battle stars, Phillipine Unit Citation, Independence Medal, Liberator Medal with Bronze Star. He served from l984-1996 as Midvale City Councilman.
He is survived by a family who will miss him: his brother, Andrew; his wife, Kathleen; his children, Angela Deneris (Robert Immitt); Kimberly Deneris Brown (James Brown); George Angelo Deneris (Kimberly Wilson); and grandchildren, Kathleen, Samuel, Alexandra, Olivia, Maxcen, Miles, and Anthea.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at 12 noon, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South. Interment: Midvale City Cemetery, 7500 South I-15 Frontage Road, Midvale, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
