Andrew McSweet Sr, Succumbs Day After Death of Daughter
Andrew McSweet Sr, 4 Dunn St, Union City, died at his home this morning after a long illness. He was the father of Mrs. Elizabeth Townsend, 16 Brook St, who died yesterday in St. Mary’s hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Lithuania April 21, 1868, son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Abbott) McSweet, and came here in 1890. He was a retired worker of the U.S. Rubber Co. and a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a son, Andrew McSweet, Jr; three daughters, Mrs. Derwood O. Nichols, Mrs. Ernest Voland, both of Naugatuck and Mrs. William Deglis of West Haven; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A double funeral, for Mr. McSweet and Mrs. Townsend will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Rev. O.H. Bertram, paster, will officiate. Burial will be in Grove cemetery. Friends may visit the Alderson Funeral home, 201 Meadow St., tomorrow evening, 7 to 9 o’clock, and Sunday afternoon and evening, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 o’clock.
