LEWIS ROUNDTREE
Lewis Allen Roundtree, 78, a Petaluma resident for four years, died yesterday at a local convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Boisfort, Wash., he worked as a lumberjack in that area for several years and moved to Oklahoma in 1920. In 1941 he moved to California and worked as a ranch foreman in Yuba and Sutter counties.
In 1942 Roundtree returned to Washington and the lumber industry as a millwright for the Scott Lumber Co.. He retired in 1964 and moved to Petaluma.
Roundtree was a member of the International Wood Workers of America and Santa Rosa Moose Lodge 358.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Bond of Chico, Mrs. Nora Cunningham and Mrs. Juanita Howard, both of Santa Rosa; a son, Martin Roundtree of Chico; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Kettenring of Seattle, Wash.; two stepsons, Ralph Baucom of Los Angeles and Merle Cox of Toledo, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Highnote of Chimacum, Wash., and Mrs. Agnes Keller of Centralia, Wash.; 26 grandchildren. Funeral was held today at the Sorensen funeral home, Petaluma.
