Brian C. Jensen, 62, loving husband of Patti Weeks, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014. Brian was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 26, 1952, to Grant W. and Gladys Petty Jensen, and grew up with his sister Tanya and brother Michael. He graduated from Highland High School in 1971, and he received his BA degree in philosophy at the University of Utah in 1976. He worked for the Deseret News for 10 years as layout editor, and arts writer. He also wrote music, film and media articles and reviews for Utah Holiday magazine. In 1983 Brian moved to Greenville, N.C., and in 1986 married Patti Weeks, Associate Professor of Dance at East Carolina University. He worked as a technical writer at Burroughs-Wellcome Co., and did layout and design for several arts-related publications. Following these jobs, he worked as a free-lance writer. Brians areas of philosophical pursuit included language and theories of consciousness and technology. His causes included workers rights, social equality and the eradication of poverty. He was a loyal fan of the Utah Jazz professional basketball team and loved the out of doors, especially the Western U.S. He had a large international following of friends on Facebook who appreciated his posts of contemporary music and art. His intelligence, wit, artistic taste and compassion will be missed by many. Brian was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, and is survived by his wife Patti, his sister-in-law and her husband, their children and his beloved cats.
