Joseph Wayne Horton, 71 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at his home. Mr. Horton was born in Carroll County to the late Floyd Raymond & Sophia Alberta Robinson Horton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Horton, Lester Horton, Conard Horton, Imogene Caviness, Bill Horton and Helen Edwards. Survivors include his wife, Annabelle Honaker Horton of the home; daughter & son-in-law, Cindy & Doug McCraw of East Bend, NC; son, Christopher “Chris” Horton of Hillsville, granddaughter, Hayden McCraw and grandson, Will McCraw both of East Bend, NC; sister, Ida Bell Webb of Fancy Gap; two dogs, Gus and Rusty; and special friend, Roger Dalton of Boone, NC. Mr. Horton retired from Old Castle-W&L Construction. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel from 1:00 until 3:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at the Henley Cemetery at a later date with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts to made the University of Tennessee at Martin Rodeo Team Gift Fund Checks may be mailed to: UTM Office of Development 554 University Street 329 Administration Building Martin, TN 38238. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
