Our cherished, strong, independent mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor and friend, Dorothy Margie Sandberg Baldwin, 90, passed away September 15, 2018 after living a beautiful and fulfilling life. She was born in Ely, Nevada on November 24, 1927 to Chester Edward Sandberg and Mary Robison Sandberg. She spent most of her adult life in Sparks, Nevada and eventually moved to Utah to be around her family. She now reunites with her husband, Blaine W. Baldwin, who passed away in 2009 and daughter, Cathy Irene Eddington, who passed away in 2017. Blaine and Dorothy were married, June 4, 1949, and sealed in the Oakland Temple May 15, 1965. Together they raised 2 talented children and are the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren.

Dorothy was a hard worker and taught everyone around her the importance of work and integrity. One of her favorite sayings was “A man’s word is his bond.” She was one of those people who got things done. She never sat still (except when reading). She was either working, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, or taking care of her family, neighbors, and friends. Dorothy was a dedicated employee for the Washoe County Sherriff’s Office for many years until she retired in1993.

Dorothy spent most of her life serving others. She was always thinking of others and especially had to make sure everyone was fed, and was an excellent cook. She was constantly bringing meals into families that needed help. She also served many as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her son, Carl (Janine) Baldwin; a brother, Lewis (Beverly) Sandberg; a sister, Irene (Jewel) Beckwith; a son-in law, Jerry Eddington; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and beloved daughter.

Dorothy loved being a mom, grandmother, and great grandmother and loved being surrounded by her babies. We will miss her energy and dedication to those she loved.

Funeral Services will be held at the Battlecreek Chapel, 1250 E 200 S, Pleasant Grove on Friday, September 21 at 10:30 am.
