Mrs. Eva (Mather) Akley, 84, of Marlboro, died Monday evening at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for several days. Mrs. Akley was born on July 22, 1898, in Marlboro, the daughter of Herbert and Clara (Winchester) Mather. She attended schools in Marlboro and lived all her life in a home built by her grandfather, David Mather. In January 1924 Se was married to Ervin C. Akley, who died 1959. Mrs. Akley assisted with the operation of the family farm and was often found sugaring or haying in the fields along the Route 9 homestead. She was a member of Windham County Farm Bureau. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Adams and Mrs. Rachel O'Connor, both of Marlboro; a sister, Mrs. Dwight May of Vernon; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews One grandson is deceased. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Covey & Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington. The Rev. Lucinda Olmsted Rust, minister of Wilmington Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington. There are no calling hours.
