Mr. Kenneth (Kenny) Joseph Simon, a longtime resident of Mountain View, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 while at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, MO. Born July 4, 1935 to August J. & Ellen (Linnebur) Simon in Topeka, KS; he was 83 years old.

Kenny attended schools in Willow Springs and graduated with the class of 1956. He was employed at the Rawlings Baseball Factory in Willow for many years, while building a dairy farm business. It was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to own his own farm and become a full-time dairy farmer. He was married on December 26, 1966 to the love of his life, Louise Cox at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. To this union, four children were born. In his younger years, Kenny loved to play baseball; he played centerfield and was known to be fast and “could run like a deer.” Later in life it was one of his favorite past times to listen to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games on the radio. He also loved to be outdoors and to go deer hunting, a passion he shared with his daughters, son-in-law, and grandson. He was quite the marksman even at the age of 82, when he was still able to hunt with his family. Most of his friends and family called him Kenny, but his favorite name was that of “Pops,” a special name appointed him by his grandson, Luke and shared by grandson Ethan as well. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.

Mr. Simon is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leonard Simon; and three sisters: Elmeda Simon, Dorothy (Simon) Adams, and Louise Lilya.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; son, Joseph Alan Simon and girlfriend, Darlene Wallace of Mountain View; Anna Smith and her husband, Joey of Springfield; Wanda Simon of Little Rock, AR; and Susan Slemmer and her husband, Ben of Dorsey, IL. Further surviving are two grandsons; Luke Slemmer and Ethan Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited Monday, September 17, 2018 at Willow Funeral Home at 5:30 P.M. Visitation will follow from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Nease Cemetery located on N. Walnut St. (County Road 1070) at 11:00 A.M. with Father Sherman Wall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to help defray funeral expenses and may be left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be left at www.willowspringsfuneralhome.com
