Frank Olson was the 4th child of Olag Anderson and Stina Johansdotter, he was born at Hassle parish, Tangelberg, Vastergotland, Sweden. 6 Apr 1883 he can to NY, worked in Wis and Mn before coming to SD in 1887. In Chicago, Cook, Ill 8 Feb 1900 he married Anna Johnson of Ahus, Sweden. In the spring they came to Mellette, Spink, SD. Here two sons were born Frederick 29 Dec 1889 and Elmer May 1882, a third son Sidney Oscar was born 7 Apr 1895 and died 18 Oct 1900. Their 1st house was a soddie and before a frame building was finished, it burned down, leaving the family homeless. The youngest son Paul was born 18 Sep 1904. Frank's youngest brother Henning and wife Kristina and 3 girls came from Sweden, a 4th girl, Lily, was born while they lived with Frank. In 1920 Frank, Anna and Paul moved to Mellette. Fred and Elmer took over the farm. On 6 May 1921 Frank was stricken with appendicitis and was operated on in Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis, Mn. The funeral cortege was the largest ever held in Mellette.
