Jerry Gilbert, 69, of Ridgefield, Washington, died Friday, September 7, 2018 in Aberdeen, Washington. Jerry was born on February 14, 1949 in Lewiston, Idaho and graduated from Lewiston High School. He entered the US Coast Guard after graduation and was stationed in Ohio until 1972.

After serving his country, Jerry settled in Ridgefield, Washington until his retirement in 2005. He worked briefly as a diesel mechanic before owning and operating Nature Boy Garden & Pet store in Vancouver, Washington.

Throughout his life, he was an avid outdoorsman, fishing and hunting in the forests of Idaho with his 3 brothers and father. After his retirement he traveled the northwest in an RV enjoying nature and friends he met along the way.

He is survived by nieces, Erin (Sher) Russell of Lamona, Washington and Janet (David) Trail of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; nephew Eric (Lisa) Gilbert; Aunt Dorothy (Duane) Kirk, sister-in-law Barbara Gilbert, cousins Dian Lyles, Andee (Norbert) Schuster, and Erik (Theresa) Moser of Boise, Idaho; sister Anita (Ed) Jeffs of Kennewick, Washington.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents Clarence and June Gilbert of Lewiston, Idaho; brothers Tom Gilbert of Mesa, Arizona, Bill Gilbert of Kennewick, Washington and Dan Gilbert of Boise, Idaho.

Per Jerry's wishes, no family service was held as he wanted to be buried at sea with military honors by the Coast Guard.
