Pulaski - Lillian Challis, 95, Pulaski, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, September 5, 2018, surrounded by her family. The daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hoida) Jisa was born April 7, 1923, in Pilsen and grew up on the family farm. She was working in Milwaukee where she met the love of her life, Donald Challis, at a USO dance. The couple was married on October 23, 1948, in Milwaukee, lived in Pendleton, Oregon for three years, and then lived in many areas of northeast Wisconsin. She raised 11 children and, in her ""spare time,"" she took great pride in volunteering in the community. Lillian was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in Pulaski, where she belonged to the St. Anne Society. She loved to cook for family and friends and just adored being around babies. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her 11 children: Kathi (Ed) Karnz, Green Bay, Melvin (Bonnie) Challis, Oneida, Marvin Challis (special friend, Julie), Luxemburg, Ken (Mary) Challis, Montreal, Diane (Stu) Vervoren, Pulaski, Barb Kuczynski, Phelps, David Challis, Green Bay, Sandy Zahn (fiancé Dan Jansen), Kimberly, Ron (Wendy) Challis, Pulaski, Mary (Stosh) Skorulski, Alaska, and Donna (Jim) Roffers, Porterfield; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Emily Heemstra, Milwaukee, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two grandsons: Michael Stewart and Kyle Michael Vervoren; one brother, George (Irene) Jisa; three sisters: Mary (Syl) Chesner, Alice (William) Selner, Agnes (Victor) Stroik; and one brother-in-law, Orville Heemstra.

Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski Street, Pulaski, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018, Closing Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M., presiding. Entombment will take place at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
