Graveside Services will be held Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Myrick Cemetery and the Burial will follow at Myrick Cemetery. Bro. Thomas Cochran (his pastor and best friend of over 30 years) and Bro. Bryson Haden will officiate. Colonial Chapel Laurel is in charge of arrangements, (601) 649-3342.
Jerry was a member of Faith Baptist Church where he served as minister of music. He was employed with Jones County Beat 3 for the past five years. He was a huge college football and NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family, friends, co-workers and church family members.
He was preceded in death by father, J.C. Byrd; mother, Ida Byrd; brother, John E. Byrd.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Lynn Byrd, sons, Jeff Arrington, Scott Arrington; daughters, Jeri Lynn Edwards (Robert), April Lee Walley (Jared); brother, James E. Byrd (Sandra); sister, Carolyn Ann Byrd; 11 grand children and 1 great grandson, a beloved fur baby Bowtie and a passel of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Byrd, Byron Byrd, Brantley Johns, Charlie Walters, Jessie Blackwell, Justin Guthrie, Gabe Field, and Hunter Guthrie.
