Curtis Ellis, 83, of Metter died Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was born November 29, 1934 in Candler County, GA to the late Janie Ellis. He attended the public schools of Candler County. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force for eight years.

 In 1963, Curtis was united in marriage to the former Mary Alice Parrish. He was employed as an master auto mechanic for more than twenty years. He was also employed by the Candler County Board of Education as a school bus driver.

 In 1965 he was baptized and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served faithfully in the Kingdom Hall in Metter.

 Survivors include, his wife of 53 years, Mary Alice Ellis of Metter; five daughters and their husbands, Jamie and Josh Ellis, Rosa and Joe Deloach all of Metter, Shernell and Jason Slaughter of Lawrenceville, Denise and Ellis Strobridge of Swainsboro and Stephanie and Jose Rivera of Yonkers, NY; two brothers and their wives, Leon and Gail Pendagraph of Savannah and Reidell and Janice Ellis of Statesboro; a lifelong friend, L.D. Mincey of Metter; eighteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 The funeral service will be held today, Friday, August 31, 2018 at 1 p.m., at Whitaker Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Dixon Grove Cemetery.
