Mrs. Elaine Miles Steedley, 88, of Landis passed away Thursday, September 4, 2009, at The Laurels of Salisbury. Mrs. Steedley was born on April 5, 1921 in Bacon County, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late Frank McCullough Miles and Della Overstreet Miles.
Elaine was a 1938 graduate Alma High School in Alma, Georgia and a basketball player during high school. Elaine was a homemaker and a charter member of Dayspring Community Church. She spent a lot of time working with the children's programs and the children's Sunday school classes at various churches. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley "Mr. Mac" Steedley on December 4, 2007.
Survivors include three sons: Colonel Kerry M Steedley and wife, Brenda, of Semmes, Alabama; Rev. Gerry M. Steedley and wife, Beth, of Landis and Derry M. Steedley and wife, Roxanne, of Granite Quarry, daughter, Sherry S. Connell, of Landis, 10 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services: Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday at Dayspring Community Church by the Children. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Dayspring Community Church from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday and the remainder of the time at the residence.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to The Nursery Building Fund, Dayspring Community Church, P. O. Box 967, China Grove, NC 28023.
