Connie L. Hobbs, 68, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:23 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2018 at her home.

Connie was born June 24, 1950, in Columbus, the loving daughter of Ralph H. and Beulah M. Chitwood Durnal. She married Mike Hobbs October 22, 1971; he survives.

Connie had many job opportunities in her life, some of them include bus driver for Headstart, assistant manager at Joann Fabrics and client service worker at Developmental Services, Inc. Connie was a faithful member of the 25th Street Church of Christ. Being someone who was always willing to help, Connie volunteered as a Bible class teacher, a 4-H leader and an announcer for the Indiana State Fair 4-H horse and pony show.

Connie’s special interests included serving God and mankind, playing with her grandchildren, rubber stamping, camping, gardening and sewing.

Connie is survived by her husband of nearly 47 years, Mike; her children, Clint Michael Hobbs and his companion, Tina Cooper of Seymour and Cathy Gilmore and her husband Matthew of Elizabethtown; her grandchildren, Cody Mitchell Hobbs, Hannah Rose Gilmore, Paige Marie Gilmore and Claire Anne Gilmore; an aunt, Joyce Stamper of Louisville, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Lois Wilbur of Bloomington; nieces and nephews, Dione Virjean White, Joy and Jeff Hilycord, Jana Smith, Stan and Dereasa Durnal, Scott and Peggy Durnal, Douglas and Ollie White and Don White; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Mary Catherine Durnal, Iona Imogene White and Oren Lee Durnal and a nephew, Steven Lee Durnal.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Brace Rutledge officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday.
