Alice D. Mahar, 91, of Biddeford died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at her home. She was born July 21, 1919 in Island Pond, Vermont a daughter of Arthur and Olivine Pelletier Goulet. She moved to Rumford as a child and was educated there. She was married to Raymond P. Mahar on January 25, 1937 at St. Benedict's Church in Rumford.

Alice was employed at the Dixfield Mill for three years before moving to Biddeford in 1942. Here she worked at John Roberts Mfg. from 1952 to 1960. Retiring to help care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She had been a member of St. Andre's Church in Biddeford.

She was predeceased by Raymond, her husband of 66 years on August 20, 2003 and also by 6 brothers: Theodore, Arthur, Alphonse, Adelard, Arthur, and Fred Goulet and 3 sisters: Emma Gonthier, Anna Foley, and Odivine Laperle.

Surviving are: 2 daughters: Florine Croizier and her husband Emile of Biddeford; Louise Chavez and her husband Ricardo of El Paso, Texas; 1 son: Philip Mahar and his wife Renate of Billings, Montana; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 Sister: Olivine Tanguay of Biddeford

Visiting Hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Most Holy Trinity Church, Parish of the Good Shepherd in Saco. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
