Funeral services for Irabelle Glaze, age 94 of Carthage, formerly of Saltillo, were Saturday, Nov. 8 at Jumerson Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with Dr. Gary Fitzgerald officiating. Burial was in the Sulphur bluff Cemetery.
Mrs. Glaze was born in Collin County on Jan. 30, 1909 to A. L. and Maime Maud Blagg Swann. She married Hubert Glaze. She lived in Saltillo most of her life, moving to Carthage 170 years ago. She was a member of Carthage Chapter 747 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired school teacher, and avid gardener and oil painting enthusiast. She was a member of first United Methodist Church in Carthage.
She died Thursday, Nov. 6 in Carthage. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Bert Glaze; two brothers, B. E. Swann and C. W. Swann, two sisters, Annabelle Flake and Mary Cloer and her husband Hubert Glaze.
She is survived by one son, Harold Glaze of Carthage; one brother Carl Swann of Corpus Christi; one sister, Mamie Looney of Carthage; five grandchildren, Clifton Glaze of Carthage, Randy Glaze of McKinney, Dawn Anderson of Marshall, and Stanley Glaze and Karen Tyner, both of Longview; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
