On Saturday, May 25, 2002, ROSS R. ALEXANDER, 79, of Rehoboth Beach, DE., died at his home. He was born in Frederick, Maryland and spent his boyhood there. (He was an ambulance driver for the American Field Service during WWII in Italy, India and England). He graduated from the New York School of Interior Decoration and the Jane Snead School of Ceramics in Philadelphia. His schooling trained him to become a Master Potter and many people have enjoyed the pieces he has producted. He spent a total of 47 years in the fine gift business, 35 of those years as the owner and operator of Joss Fine Gift Shop in Rehoboth. He was the son of the late John Henry and Mae Hawker Alexander. He is survived by his lifetime companion, Francis M. Hueber, Rehoboth. One brother: G. Leon Alexander, Cape Coral, FL and one sister Reeva Jones, Dickerson, MD. Nieces Jan A. Angel, Midlothian, VA, Linda Curtiss, Hoboken, NJ, Toni Serini, Severna Park, MD and Eleanor Rawitz, Madison, NJ. Nephews Meredith H. Alexander, Jr., Winston-Salem, NC, Jay Ross Wiggens, Hamburg, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 5 at 11 A.M. at Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane, Rehoboth Beach, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Delaware Hospice, 600 S. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements by Short Funeral Home, Delmar, DE.
