Dorothy was born Dorothy May Johnston. Through court order at about one year of age, her names was changed back to her mother's maiden name Faulk.

She was and only daughter of Erma M. Faulk whom had a brief marriage to Joseph E. Johnston.

Erma had lived on King Ranch with her father Timothy Phillip Faulk while he served as a judge for the family.
Erma went to Texas A& I Kingsville, and got her Doctorate. Erma and Joseph were married June 28, 1920 in Corpus Christie, Nueces County, Texas. During their marriage, and after, Dorothy lived with her grandparents Timothy and Nina most of the time while Erma was a school teacher.

Dorothy married Elmer Ernest Johnson on July 16, 1940 in Laredo, Webb County, Texas.
Together they had two sons.

Divorce Decree :

BE IT REMEMBERED, that on this the 27th day of March, 1922, it
it being the fourth Monday in said month, there was begun and holdon
a regular term [illegible] Criminal District Court of Nueces County,
in the courthouse thereon, In the city of Corpus Christi Present
Hon. Walter F. Timon, Judge, Milton H. West, District Attorney
Frank G. Roninson, sheriff, G.E. Wilkinson, District clerk,
when the following procedings were had and entered of record,
to-wit:

Erma Johnston
VS. No. 6997 on this 28th day of March 1922,
Joseph E. Johnston this cause coming on the heard, the
plaintiff appeared in person and by attorney, and the defendant,
although having been cited by personal service, and having filed
his answer as required by law, failed to appear further in this be-
half.; whereupon, a jury being waived, plaintiff announced ready for
trial, and the Court, having heard the pleadings, evidence and ar-
gument of counsel, it is the opinion that the material allogations
in plaintiff’s petition are true. It is therefore ordered, and judged,
and decreed by the court that the bonds of matrimony heretofore
existing between said plaintiff and defendant be and the same are
hereby anulled and dissolved, and that the plaintiff be and she
is hereby divorced from the said defendant. It is further ordered
by the court that the care and custody of the child prayed for
in plaintiff’s [illegible] .. wit: Dorothy May Johnston aged, about one
year, be and the same is hereby awarded to said Erma Johnston. It
is further ordered that the said plaintiff, Erma Johnston be ad-
judged to pay all costs in this behalf explended. It is further
ordered that execution may issue in favor of the officers of the Court
against each part, respectuvely, for all costs by him or her in
this behalf incurred. It is further ordered by the Court, that
plaintiff’s maiden name, to-wit; Erma Faulk, be and the same is
hereby restored.

It is further ordered by the court that the name of the minor child,
Dorothy May Johnston changed to that of Dorothy May Faulk and it
is accordingly so

District Court in and for said County and state, do hereby
certify that the above and fogoing one and a fraction pages
of typewritten matter contain a true and correct copy of the
Decree of Divorce rendered by said Court in Case No. 6997,
styled Erma Johnston vs Joseph E. Johnston, as the name appeared
from the minutes of said Court, in volume 1, on page 277 in my office.

Given waiver my hand and the seal of said court,
at my office in Corpus Christi, Texas, on this the 2nd day of
June, A. D. 1922.

For unknown reasons, Dorothy stole the inheritance that her mother put aside for her eldest son. She also kept the inheritance that her husband set aside for her eldest son, and in her will she excluded her eldest son from any of all combined inheritance. Leaving nothing for one half of her family for future generations.
