MR. HELIER BREE.
Mr. Helier Bree, whose death is announced, was born at St. Helier's, Jersey, Channel Islands, in September, 1837. He emigrated to New Zealand at the age of 20, and saw active service with the Armed Constabulary during the Maori war, receiving a medal in recognition of his services.
When peace was declared he took up farming, first at Pirongia and then at Whangarata. He was one of the pioneer settlers at Te Mata, a district near Raglan, on the West Coast. His later years were spent in Auckland and at Onehunga. His wife predeceased him three years ago. He is survived by four sons and six daughters. There are 33 grandchildren and five great-grand-children, The interment will be at Tuakau on Sunday . AUCKLAND STAR, VOLUME LX, ISSUE 134, 8 JUNE 1929
