YOAKUM: Joyce Marie Brewer, 86, peacefully went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, due to complications of an auto accident on August 3, 2018. She was surrounded by her beloved family. She was born March 22, 1932 in Ganado to the late Ed T. and Mary (Skrobarczyk) Brzozowski.
She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School and Baldwin Business College. She married the love of her life. Coleman Henry Brewer on April 16, 1951. They celebrated 48 years of marriage until his death in 1999.
She was director of Red Bird Daycare and worked at the after school care. She also took care of children in her home. She loved and cared for many children in the community and was lovingly called “Granny Brewer” She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes and baby quilts for the grand and great-grandchildren.
She was devoted to her church and her God. She was Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church and took communion to shut-ins. She was a member of Catholic Daughters for more than 50 years, Altar Society and KJT.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Coleman Brewer; sisters Albena Lesak and Augustine O’Connor; brothers, Frank and Edward Brzozowski.
Visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home with Rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. John Peters officiating. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum.
