Jessie Faye Lacy Mitchell, age 87, departed this life on August 28, 2018. She was born on July 12, 1931 in DeKalb County, Alabama, to the late Luther M. and Emma W. Lacy of Henagar, Alabama. She attended Sylvania High School where she participated in many extracurricular activities and was chosen as a cheerleader for the Sylvania Rams. While in high school, Jessie met her future husband, W.B. Mitchell, Jr.

W. B. and Jessie were married in 1948 and made their home in Henagar, Alabama.
Life partners in both marriage and business, Jessie and W.B. helped run the successful family potato farm and cotton gin, started by W. B. Mitchell, Sr. Early on, Jessie served as bookkeeper for W. B. Mitchell and Son, Inc., which was well known throughout the Southeast, United States, as Mitchell’s Special Spuds. Later, she pursued and received her associate degree from Northeast Alabama Community College.

Jessie received Christ at an early age and was a dedicated Christian wife and mother. She established a Christ-centered home and guided her three sons and one daughter in their faith. Many friends and relatives often gathered in the family room for fellowship and gospel singing, complete with organ and piano accompaniment. Jessie remained a faithful supporter of community churches and left a lasting legacy of Christian service and faithfulness.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Kenny and Sue Mitchell, Sylvania, Alabama; Terry and Diane Mitchell, Montgomery, Alabama; Jerry and Sheila Mitchell, Montgomery, Alabama; one son-in-law, Kinnie Shrader, Henagar, Alabama. Granddaughters: Angelique M. Plunkett (Justin), Guntersville, Alabama; Suzanne M. Satcher (Matt), Montgomery, Alabama; Drs. Lacey M. Thomas (Brad), Montgomery, Alabama; Erin M. Bradshaw,
(Ben), Montgomery; Caroline Kellett Mitchell, New York, New York; Jordan Elizabeth Shrader, Henagar, Alabama. She is survived by twelve great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her sister, Doris L. Esloon Swader, of Henagar, Alabama. Jessie was preceded in death by her loving husband, W. B. Mitchell, Jr. and her beloved daughter, Kim M. Shrader, her brother, Junior Lacy, Henagar, Alabama; and her sisters, Nellie L. Thrasher , Ider, Alabama; Dovie L. Pair, Lakeland, Florida; and Estelle L. Guest, Ringgold, Georgia.

Rainsville Funeral Home, Rainsville, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30th from 6PM-8PM, and Friday, August 31st from 10:30AM-12PM. Funeral will be held at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel at Friday, August 31st at 12PM. Burial is at Unity Church, Henagar, Alabama.

Pallbearers are: Ben Bradshaw, Bo Brown, Tommy Guest, Justin Plunkett, Matt Satcher, Glenn Sylvest, Brad Thomas, David Thrasher, Kinnie Shrader
