Death Claims a Pioneer Resident
Mrs. Mirrielees passes to the great beyone.
DIED - Mirrielees, Lucy Andrews, widow of James Mirrielees, suddenly, at her home in Big Timber, on Tuesday the 23d day of March, 1909.
The forgoing announcement will be read with sorrow by a great any people to whom the Pioneer goes. Mrs. Mirrielees was the only daughter of Col. R. B. Hatch, who was Chief Quartermaster of the 13th A, Army Corps, who dien in 1871, and of Ellen D. W. Hatch, whom mearly all of those people residing in Sweet Grass county propr to the year 1893, remember. Mrs. Mirrielees was orn in Griggsville, Pike County, Illinois, on the 3d day of Oct, 1849; she was married to James Mirrielees, who was the first merchant to establish business in Big timber, in the year 1874; she came with her husband to Big timber in the year 1884. She was the mother of five children, four of whom survive her. Bessie, the wife of Dr. W. A. Moore; Edith, who is a graduate of Stanford University, and who w as the only one of the children at home at the time of thhe death of the mother, James Ronald, who is engaged inbusiness i Fergus county, and Lucia who is attending Stanford University. In addition to the children, she leaves surviving her, four brothers, Goerge M. Hatch, engaged in business at Astoria, Oregon, A. G. the attorney of this town and Benton, who is associated with George at Lethbridge.
It is expected that all excepting Lucia, will be in attendance at the funeral; the funeral will be held from the Episcopal church at 3 o'clock, Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Mirrielees had resided in this town longer than any one else the we can now recall. She came here in the year 1884, and lived in the house in which she passed away, constantly from that time. During all of this time the best interests of Big Timber, from both a material andmoral standpoint were constantly before her. She looked upon this town as her home. When in California, where she spent a year with her daughters who were attending Stanford, her heart constantly turned to Big Timber. She was a good woman. The world is better for her having lived.
(The casket will be opened at the house from 12 noon till 2 p.m. and will not be opened at the church. Those desiring are respectfully invited to the house between the hours above mentioned.)

No Gravestone was found for Lucy. On Ellen Jean Mirrielees' Gravestone it lists Lucy as her mother and James as her father.
