Came from Steffisburg, Switzerland as a Mennonite refugee. He traveled through Friesenheim, in Oberamt of Neustadt, Palatinate - [Palatinate is a region in southwestern Germany. It occupies roughly the southernmost quarter of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate [Rheinland-Pfalz] in 1716. He arrived in Philadelphia in Sept of 1717 and located on 200 acres of land in Lancaster, PA. He was naturalized in 1727. On 2 Nov 1737 warranted 462 acres in Manor Twp, Lancaster Co., PA.

Signs his will Andreas Kaufman, marked in his own hand and mark and name instead of seal.
Dated 1741, 12 of March.
We the underwritten, acknowledge the above said.

His will is marked A KM but the clerk wrote Andrew Cofman
Probate the latter part of 1744 at Lancaster, PA - His will mentioned but 2 sons, however, the deeds name 12 children. To get a fuller list of children, refer to the Deed Books in the Recorder's Office at Lancaster, PA dated 1761 when a final settlement of Andrews estate was made.

In his will Andreas Kaufman states he was married twice, and had children by both wives.
