He was a member of the Grove Volunteer Fire Department, the South Carolina Junior Hereford Association, the South Carolina Junior Angus Association and the Anderson Cattlemen's Association. He was a winner of many scholarships including the Junior Beef Scholarship sponsored by the South Carolina Farm Bureau.
Daniel received Full Fireman Honors.
