A long-time resident of Kiefer, Maggie lived her first 14 years with her family in Sedan, Kansas before moving to Wichita to help take care of her sister’s children while she worked. She married Cecil Ashford on April 20, 1946 and they moved to Kiefer in 1959. Their union was blessed with 5 children.
Maggie was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Kiefer until her health declined and she was no longer able to attend services. She worked as a cook for Kiefer Schools for more than 35 years and her specialty was making home made hot rolls. She was a meticulous housekeeper and each task had certain days they were done every week. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband and was a great deal of fun to be around. She loved life, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended many sporting events and school activities supporting their interests as they grew up.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Baker; husband Cecil Ashford; son Bobby Ashford; son-in-law James Willingham; great-grandson Kelvin Schiele; and 13 brothers and sisters.
She leaves behind children, Sandy McCormick and husband Jim; Janol Lee Kizer and husband Kenny; Carolyn Willingham; Kenneth Ashford and wife Kathy; daughter-in-law Patty Ashford; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services: Friday, August 17, 2018 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
The family has entrusted the services to Green Hill Funeral Home. 400 E. Teel Rd.
